I am heading over to the Manhattan Yarn Sale today. I am going to really try to restrain myself from buying too much yarn. Luckily, they only accept cash. A credit card would be the death of me!
I finally seamed up Haiku!! I gave it to my friend's daughter on Thanksgiving Day. I will post pics later.
Here is the address if anyone is interested in the Yarn Sale:

Projects
The Stitch and Bitch at my house was not bad. But I didn't even get to knit because I ended up playing teacher and helped everyone work on their projects. One person wanted me to show her this particular crochet pattern that I made into a blanket and someone else wanted to me to show her how to make this scarf I made before. I am not showing my finished projects next time. Overall, it was fun. There seemed to be a lot more bitching than knitting, though!
We all decided that we are going to Manhattan Yarn Riot this year. I will try to hold myself back from buying loads of yarn, but it's so cheap and this sale is only once a year! You have to buy everything in bulk, so I usually split the bags up with whoever is going with me. That way, she can have some of my yarn and I can have some of hers.
I haven't gotten a chance to seem up the Haiku cardigan yet. Right now, I am working on Christmas presents. I am crocheting a blanket and knitting kitchen towels for a house warming gift. I still have another baby to knit for. So many projects and so little time.
I have been exhausted. I am trying to prepare for my upcoming jewelry party in Boston. I am debuting my new collection. I spent 3 hours last night ordering displays/packaging for the jewelry. Plus, I still have to finish many more pieces and the show is November 14! I am going to have to put the knitting aside and get into my studio and work on that jewelry.

Stitch and Bitch
I am hosting a Stitch and Bitch at my house tonight. Only 3 people will be able to make it tonight. It's always hard to organize a group activity. Oh well, it's a beginning. I hope more of my friends will join us next time. I am making a Oreo cookie pie. Yum!
I finally finished knitting Haiku! YEAH!!!! I am in the process of piecing it together now. There is very little finishing. That is one of the reasons I chose to make it, since I have never made a garment before. Pics coming soon.

Anything New?
My friend just had a baby boy, Benjamin. I knitted a hat and scarf set for him. Just in time for Fall and Winter. I made the hat a lot bigger than the pink one I made before from Stitch and Bitch because I wanted him to be able to use it for a while.
I need to get my winter projects going if I am going get them finished for Christmas!

Birthday Hat
I crocheted a hat for my friend, Jess's birthday. I used Lion Brand Wool Ease "Thick & Quick" in Wheat. It matches the scarf I gave her.

Well, I have to admit I haven't been doing much knitting and crocheting. I have been busy working on getting my business ready to launch. I am still working on more products. It's a lot of work. And I am doing this by myself. I am grateful to my husband for all his unconditional support.
I am still trying to finish my 2nd Knitter's Critters blanket and Haiku. I need to finish Haiku by July for a little girl's birthday.

First Knit Hat!
This is the first hat that I have knit. And a first for using circulars and dpn's. Plus, the first time for I-Cord.

And my model:

I got the pattern from the Stitch and Bitch book. It is called the Umbilical Cord Hat. I used one skein of Debbie Bliss "Merino Aran". It didn't even use up the whole skein. I love it. It is such a cute hat. I am so proud of it. What do you think?

Crochet Scarf

I finished crocheting this scarf a few weeks ago, but now SPRING is here in NYC! I guess that I won't be able to wear it until next winter. The pattern is the same as the knitathon blanket, except that you change the width and length to a scarf size of your choice. I used 2 skeins of Karabella "Aurora Melange" and 1 skein of Karabella "Soft Tweed". I love this yarn. The 100% extra fine merino wool is so soft and it keeps my neck warm.
Okay, so I got 3 hours of sleep last night and I still made it to work. I felt like a zombie today. I just couldn't sleep last night. I get insomnia often. What did I do? I was knitting a baby hat until 4am this morning. I am making the Umbilical Cord baby hat from the Stitch and Bitch book. This is the first time I have knit using circulars and dpn's! Circular knitting is so fun! I am obsessed! Before I made myself try to sleep, I knit onto the dpn's and did a few rows. I feel a bit clumsy doing it but it is coming along nicely.

Modeling
Here is my friend, Jess, modeling the hat and scarf I crocheted a few months ago.
.
I ended up giving her the scarf because she loved it so much. I made a matching hat for her birthday at the end of the month. Shhh! It's a surprise. Pix coming soon.

Blah Day
I had a pretty uneventful day. I am tired and cranky. I didn't want to get up this morning to go to work, but my boss would probably throw a tantrum. I kept hitting the snooze button without realizing it! So, I was 10 minutes late getting into work. So what! My boss is always late and I am usually the one who opens up the studio and lets the others in. Sigh...I hate my job. :-(
Last night, I got a few more inches done for my second crochet blanket for The Critters Knitters Knitathon. I really like the colors I chose, blues and purples.
I read on Liz's blog that Cathy wanted to know if I could share my crochet pattern for the Knitathon blanket I made. Sure! I never wrote out a pattern before, but I will try. The overall blanket pattern is a V-stitch pattern with shell edges done after wards. I will see if I can find some time this weekend and write out the pattern.
Not sure if I can find some energy to crochet tonight. I have been neglecting the cardigan (Haiku) I have been knitting. All I have left is the right side and then the sleeves. This cardigan is for my friend's daughter, but her birthday is not until July, so I have plenty of time. I have been pouring all of my energy into the Knitathon blankets. Charity comes first!
The new Spring 2004 KNITTY is out. Check it out!
I saw a lot of cute patterns, but it will have to be for future projects. I have too many projects on the list already.

Welcome to the launching of Oiyi's weblog!
Currently, I am obsessed with knitting and crocheting. I just can't pick either one! So, I am knitting a child's cardigan Haiku and crocheting a scarf.
