First Knit Hat!

This is the first hat that I have knit. And a first for using circulars and dpn's. Plus, the first time for I-Cord.

And my model:

I got the pattern from the Stitch and Bitch book. It is called the Umbilical Cord Hat. I used one skein of Debbie Bliss "Merino Aran". It didn't even use up the whole skein. I love it. It is such a cute hat. I am so proud of it. What do you think?

Crochet Scarf

I finished crocheting this scarf a few weeks ago, but now SPRING is here in NYC! I guess that I won't be able to wear it until next winter. The pattern is the same as the knitathon blanket, except that you change the width and length to a scarf size of your choice. I used 2 skeins of Karabella "Aurora Melange" and 1 skein of Karabella "Soft Tweed". I love this yarn. The 100% extra fine merino wool is so soft and it keeps my neck warm.

Okay, so I got 3 hours of sleep last night and I still made it to work. I felt like a zombie today. I just couldn't sleep last night. I get insomnia often. What did I do? I was knitting a baby hat until 4am this morning. I am making the Umbilical Cord baby hat from the Stitch and Bitch book. This is the first time I have knit using circulars and dpn's! Circular knitting is so fun! I am obsessed! Before I made myself try to sleep, I knit onto the dpn's and did a few rows. I feel a bit clumsy doing it but it is coming along nicely.

Modeling

Here is my friend, Jess, modeling the hat and scarf I crocheted a few months ago.
.
I ended up giving her the scarf because she loved it so much. I made a matching hat for her birthday at the end of the month. Shhh! It's a surprise. Pix coming soon.

Blah Day

I had a pretty uneventful day. I am tired and cranky. I didn't want to get up this morning to go to work, but my boss would probably throw a tantrum. I kept hitting the snooze button without realizing it! So, I was 10 minutes late getting into work. So what! My boss is always late and I am usually the one who opens up the studio and lets the others in. Sigh...I hate my job. :-(

Last night, I got a few more inches done for my second crochet blanket for The Critters Knitters Knitathon. I really like the colors I chose, blues and purples.

I read on Liz's blog that Cathy wanted to know if I could share my crochet pattern for the Knitathon blanket I made. Sure! I never wrote out a pattern before, but I will try. The overall blanket pattern is a V-stitch pattern with shell edges done after wards. I will see if I can find some time this weekend and write out the pattern.

Not sure if I can find some energy to crochet tonight. I have been neglecting the cardigan (Haiku) I have been knitting. All I have left is the right side and then the sleeves. This cardigan is for my friend's daughter, but her birthday is not until July, so I have plenty of time. I have been pouring all of my energy into the Knitathon blankets. Charity comes first!

The new Spring 2004 KNITTY is out. Check it out! knitty.com
I saw a lot of cute patterns, but it will have to be for future projects. I have too many projects on the list already.

Critter Knitters Knit-a-Thon

Join in the fun and help out the poor critters out there. Knitathon

Liz and Wendy are helping out The Critter Knitters Coalition by collecting knitted blankets for animal shelters.

Mine got there yesterday. Check it out :Crochet Blanket
It's a crocheted blanket done in the v-stitch pattern with shell edges.
I am currently working on another crocheted blanket for the critters.

Welcome to the launching of Oiyi's weblog!

Currently, I am obsessed with knitting and crocheting. I just can't pick either one! So, I am knitting a child's cardigan Haiku and crocheting a scarf.
