This was her birthday photo last year with her stuffed animals.
Last year, she still looked liked a baby. But this year, she definitely doesn't look like a baby anymore.
I asked her the other day what she wanted for her birthday and she said, "Cake." DH will pick up a chocolate cupcake for her from a local bakery tonight. We plan to have a mini-celebration at home so she can blow out a candle (which she loves) on her cupcake. We were so busy after we got back from our Christmas holiday, there wasn't enough time to plan her birthday party for this weekend. My sister and I are planning her birthday party for the end of the month.
My sister-in-law gave her this dress for Christmas. I had her try it on this week and she wouldn't take it off. It was the perfect opportunity to take her birthday photos. As you can see, she LOVES the dress. Guess what she will be wearing at her birthday party?

My My, Melody is quite the little lady! She has gotten so big! Yes, I see the difference just a year can make. I was just looking at photos of my kids the other day and getting all teary-eyed at how they've changed. I don't know where the time went.

She is such a cutie and the dress looks great on her (I'd like a grown up version with that nice longer and wider skirt part :-))and you are right - she is a little young lady now and no longer a baby. Enjoy every minute you have with her - soon enough she will be off to school and other activities.
But then again according to my mom "girls always return home" and at least for me that is true - my mom is the closest friend and I love and cherish that relation.
