Square Along Baby Blanket

Inspired by the 2 squares that I made for the Square Along, I wanted to experiment and make a larger square. The squares that everyone is making and sending to Larissa, will be seamed together to form a blanket. I just don't have that kind of patience these days to put together all those squares, but I really enjoy knitting the square pattern. It's a very easy pattern like the Pinwheel Baby Blanket, except it's square. I wanted to make a blanket that was smaller than the pinwheel baby blanket. This square blanket is a 30 inch square, it would be perfect to use in a stroller. I love how this turned out.

I still have the ends to weave in as you can see on the right hand side. That's why the blanket looks a little bumpy because of the yarn ends hidden underneath. The blanket had to be blocked to even out the square, especially the center. The edging for the blanket is a simple garter stitch.
Yarn: Caron's Simply Soft Colors: Orchid, Soft Pink, Plum Wine
Pattern: Square Pattern from Test-Along
Edging: Garter Stitch Border
Needles: Started with US 8 DPN's, and then switched to Knit Picks Options US 8

This is fabulous! Beautiful, a perfect size for a baby blanket. How much yarn did you use? I may be inspired to knit one myself. The square was so fun to knit for Larissa, I agree.

Thanks, Moody Mama! I started off with 1 skein of each color, but did not use them up. I still have half of the pink and plum wine and less than half of the orchid. I hope that helps. I guess I could have used it all if I wanted to make it bigger.

Awww, this looks absolutely fantastic! Perfect size for a baby blanket, beautiful colours that go along so well together, and you knit it up so beautifully and evenly - I'm impressed, absolutely!

Wooee, those are nice colors for a baby blanket! It's amazing how the right color choices can elevate the simple pastel to something more sophisticated.
And thanks for your nice comments on my mitten pattern! I hope you make a pair, and I'd love to see them!

Thank you, everyone! I was a bit worried about my color choices in the beginning, but I am glad that I went with it.
