City Kiddie

The weather in NYC has definitely been HOT! I finished this summer top for Melody a while ago, but last week was the first time she took it for a test drive. The pattern calls for sock weight yarn, but I used Sublime Organic Cotton DK. I knew I wanted for her to wear it in the summer and all I had for sock yarn was wool. I followed the 6 months size in the pattern, obviously using larger needles to accommodate the yarn, and made it longer. The top down construction made it easy to adjust the size. I kept measuring it against her pajama top so I knew when the length was perfect for her.The yarn is so soft and it was very nice to knit with. Which is not the case for all cottons. The knitted fabric has a very nice drape. I know she will get a lot of use out of this knitted cotton t-shirt. I purposely made it a little longer so she can wear it for more than one season.
Pattern: Country Kiddie by Brandy Fortune, you can purchase the pattern from Ravelry or from Pixie Purls.
Needles: US 6 - 4.0 mm
Yarn: Sublime Organic Cotton DK in color: 94 Scrumble (light pink)
Size: I used the 6 month old size, but made it longer to fit my 2 yr old.

Looks great! I can see it in the fall with a turtleneck under it. Melody looks like she's having a good time.

Cute! It looks so strange seeing her climb on the equipment, I still think of her as being a baby.

I swear, you have the best knit clothing model right there! Your work is beautiful as always, but she could make anything look good.

that top is so adorable! Melody looks so cute in it. I will keep this yarn in mind for future projects. I have some of the sublime Cashmerino yarn in my stash...it's soft, but I haven't knit with it yet.

Super stylish cute city kiddie! Now you need to knit her a bathing suit so that she can go in the sprinklers at the park.
