A Busy Saturday

At the last minute, I decided I wanted to attend the Customer Appreciation Party at Purl Soho. The party started at 12pm in Manhattan and I have a weaving class in Brooklyn at 2pm. It was going to be a jam packed day, but I decided to do it.A big thanks to Rima for accompanying me. She also had plans at 2pm, so it was going to be a in and out thing for the both of us. At the last minute, she asked if I wanted to come into Manhattan early to get something to eat. We planned to meet at one location at 11am. I got there at 10:50am and they said they would not be opening until 12pm. I was annoyed because they have opened at 11am in the past. I called Rima and she picked me up in a cab and took us to the Hampton Chutney Co. for Dosas. This was the first time I had a Dosa and I loved it. I got the Marsala Deluxe with Mango Chutney. It was filled with spiced Indian Potato filling, Spinach, Jack Cheese & Roasted Tomato. We got to Purl Soho with 10 minutes to spare and there was already a big group of people waiting outside. Purl Soho was really nice and gave all of us (the people waiting outside early) a goody bag. Then the rest of the day, they gave out goody bags when you made a purchase.

The party was fun and it quickly got crowded. We even ran into people from our knitting group. I got to chit chat with my quilting teacher, Cassandra. I can't wait to take more classes from her when Purl Soho has their class schedule finalized. The French Macarons were almost too pretty to eat. I had one Pistachio before I left. The also had pink lemonade.
Here is the goody bag. It's a Purl Soho tote bag with their P logo on it and it was filled with little goodies. Rima and I ended up buying Sashiko Kits, a type of Japanese embroidery. I can't wait to work on it when I find the time.

After Rima and I parted ways, I hopped on the nearest train. Of course, the trains are always re-routed on the weekends. It was fine coming into Manhattan, but going back to Brooklyn proved to be a little more difficult. After transferring a a few times, I made it back to my Brooklyn stop at 1:23pm. I walked back to my house, hopped in my car and drove to my class which is in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I am taking a 10 week Weaving Class at The Yarn Tree. I will save that subject for another day. I got there in time and even got a parking space right in front.

After 3 hours of intensive learning, I was exhausted. But I had promised to attend a arts & crafts fair that 2 of my friends were participating in. Since it was in the same area, it didn't take any time to drive there. I got some really cute things and it felt good to support my friends and crafty people. By the time I got home at night, I was ready to pass out. I hope you all had a good weekend.

That sounds like a busy day, but must've been nice to have all that crafty time to yourself. The dosa looks amazing and delicious.

Can't wait to see what you'll be weaving as you learn stuff in the class!
