Vanilla, Cinnamon, Blueberry, Chili, Olive, and Bay leaf.

Strange combination? No, I am not cooking with these ingredients. These are the names of the colors of Lion Brand's new yarn, Alpine Wool Yarn. A while ago, I had the opportunity to knit some samples for Lion Brand with this new yarn. It's a soft 100% Wool Roving Yarn, single ply, that comes in these rich and deep colors. The bulky weight makes it perfect for quick knits. The first hat was made with Vanilla, Bay Leaf and Cinnamon.
The second hat was made with Olive, Blueberry and Chili.Hats may be the last thing you would think of knitting during this Summer heat, but it's never too soon to prepare for Fall and Winter. The hat has a wide brim that folds up, so it's perfect for those cold windy days where you can pull the brim over your ears. In anticipation of Fall and Winter, I am already day dreaming about knitting sweaters. Are any of you thinking about Fall and Winter Knits?

Pattern: Bunny Slope Hat, free pattern from Lion Brand Yarn.
Yarn: Lion Brand Yarn, Alpine Wool Yarn: One skein each of Vanilla, Bay leaf, Cinnamon, Chili, Blueberry, and Olive.
Needles: US 10
Size: Adult size, 19 in. (48.5 cm) circumference

I am not thinking about Fall and Winter Knits--just baby knits :)

Oh, good grief no! It is SO hot here - it's seriously uncomfortable to even think about wool! But I do love to look at what you've knit. That is not one of my accomplishments yet, but you never know. Your hats are just beautiful. You do such a wonderful job on all you do!

Love the hats! Especially the colors in the first one.

You know, I've still never made a pom-pom. I need to get on that!

You bet I'm excited for autumn! It's my very favorite season. Too bad it's so short. The hats are beatiful - how nice to get to experiment with new yarn! I can't wait to try it out. Hey, us SAHM have to keep busy, right? ;)

Love the names of those yarns- and the colors, of course! Goodness, your hats reminded me that I should get moving on holiday presents... It's forever away right now, but the knitting will inevitably take forever and a day!

Such lovely looking hats! I really love the color combos. We've had a relatively cool, pleasant summer here so I've actually done a little knitting here and there. Normally though I don't think I could stomach the idea of knitting if it was sweltering.

Wow, I love the looks of that yarn, and I love the colors you put together for each hat. That yarn looks to have some real possibilities!! Yes, I have been thinking about sweaters and such, maybe because we're having such a wonderfully cool summer.

Yummy! Lion Brand has been getting more and more exciting with their new yarn lines. I am certainly going to try their version of mohair-silk ... which is similar to Rowan's KSH.

So great to finally see the secret project! These are super cute and yes, a good reminder that it's never too early to start kitting for the holidays. Rome, as they say, wasn't built in a day.

cute hats! I love the color combos you used with these, especially the brown, blue, cream combo (I mean vanilla, bay leaf and cinnammon).

I have been a hat making fool this summer. I guess hats are my socks, because I don't knit socks :)

Ooohhh! I love the blue/orange/cream one! Great color combo...

My brothers are crazy, they wear hats year-round (even in our 100 degree heat) so I'm constantly making hats :)
