Where I Went On Saturday, Part 2

I swear that Yarn is like a drug. My body didn't feel the pain until I got in the car at the end of the day. I was groaning and needed help out of the car after the 1 hour ride from Rhinebeck back to my friend's house. We had dinner and then drove 2 hours back to Brooklyn. I practically passed out that night. My back was hurting all day on Sunday and I could barely walk by night time because my back hurt so badly. DH had to put ice packs on my back and give me back massages. I have always had back problems, but carrying the baby is putting a lot more stress on my back. I can't or shouldn't be on my feet for too long these days.

But enough of my pain and suffering, let's get to the good part, the yarn haul and part 2 of my Rhinebeck trip. I saw Kristy coming out of the Shelridge Farm booth and recognized her from her blog. I went up to her and introduced myself. I hope she didn't think I was being a dork or a blog stalker. She was the only person I recognized that day. I thought I would see more people from blog land. I tried to read people's Ravelry pins, but seriously, it was a sea of people. Plus, the yarns were very distracting and I only had a limited amount of time to get through all the vendors since I got there in the afternoon.Well, thanks to Kristy, I ended up going into the Shelridge Farm booth. I am so glad I did. This is Shelridge Farm Soft Touch W4 (color: Green Apple), 100% wool, 200yds each skein.Decadent Fibers had the cutest names for their yarns, like Cookie Dough, Creme Brulee, Creme Puff. I bought a sport weight yarn called Marshmallow, 80% alpaca, 20% merino, 315yds/4oz. They didn't have a name for the color, but you can see that it's variegated greens.Shadyside Farm Studio, 75% angora with lambswool, color: Sea, 185yds/50gms. This stuff is so soft and fluffy. The owner gave me a free pattern for this baby cardigan. This stuff wasn't cheap, but my baby is worth it.
Oasis Farm Fiber Mill, Bunny Blend Yarn, 40% angora/60% wool, 180 yds. This yarn has different shades of purples and blues.
Stonesthrow Farm, Vintage IV, 53% cormo/47% young mohair, 240yds each skein. I love this deep purple. I never heard of Cormo before so I wanted to try it.
A Ruffled "Nuno" Felt Scarf Kit from Black Sheep Designs. I thought it would be a fun project to learn to felt on a silk scarf.
Brooks Farm was the first booth I saw in building A and it was the last stop I made before leaving. I didn't buy from there until the end since I could have easily blown my budget at their booth. On the left is Solana (color: EOY S68), 100% superwash wool, 320yds. It is super soft and has a silky feel. On the right is Riata (color: MR89), 48% wool/36% mohair/16% silk, 375 yds. They had the most amazing colors in this yarn. You can see their beautiful colors on the bottom photos of my Rhinebeck Part 1 post.
Both skeins are 100% Alpaca, so soft! The Silver (from A Touch of Twist) on the left is 704yds and the Natural (from Misty Mountain Farm) on the right is 665yds. Both are Sport Weight and they cost about $21 per skein!

Of course I didn't think you were weird or anything. I'm glad I got to meet you! :)

You got some great things! It was very smart of you to save Brooks Farm for last-- I could have spent my entire Rhinebeck budget there too!

Oh, what lovely skeins you have there! And you're completely right about it being a drug- It costs about as much, too!

OK, this post has done it: I'm officially envious of those who got to go to Rhineback. I want to reach through my computer screen and snatch up your yarn.

Take care of your back, hope you're feeling better by now.

love the colors! I am inspired to do a little search round here, the things I find in our local wool shop is a bit drab sometimes and my friend said she knows a woman who spins and dyes her own, which would be SOOOO exciting! Think its a bit pricey too so we'll see.
