I am weak.

I need another afghan/blanket project like I need another hole in my head. I still have the zig-zag mitered square and the rambling rows afghan to complete. It has been a while since I worked on them. The blankets have become too large to work on in front of the tv. It's better to do it on the kitchen table spread out, but I haven't seen the surface of my kitchen table in a while.

I have been fighting the urge to start a vintage stripe blanket. The flickr group taunts me everyday. I drooled over YarnStorm's master piece. Yet, I was still able to resist. Then one night while reading knitting blogs, I saw another person starting one. That finally put me over the edge and I reached for my crochet hook. One good thing is that I am using yarn from my stash. I am using 8 skeins of Caron Simply Soft Brites. I like using this yarn for blankets and afghans because it's soft and machine washable (that is the number one criteria for me for blankets). I don't care that it's acrylic. This stuff is very affordable!

The stripes are random and I will keep going until I run out of yarn. I was tempted to sneak in some pastels, but decided to stick to the Brites instead. This has got to be the most colorful thing I have made so far. I call it my happy blanket because I smile when I see it in the morning lying on the chair basking in the morning sunlight.

Here is my sock progress on the Duet Sock in the Army Girl colorway. I am past the heel (the purple waste yarn holding the place) and I just need to work on the cuff.I saw a lot of Bird's Nest pendants floating around the internet last year. The other day, I decided to make one with some sterling silver wire and 3 white pearls. It was fun to work with wire and not have to solder anything.

I love the bright cheery colors of your afghan and the socks look fab so far. The little pendant is just beautiful! Some day I'll learn a bit about jewelry making but at the moment I can't afford to get into a new set of tools nor have I got space to store- some day when I have my craft room. That would be lovely with blue tinted pearls as well, like robin's eggs.

My goodness, I cannot start another crocheted afghan!

I love the colors you chose!

And I love the nest necklace! I want one! Do you mind if I print out your picture and take it to my local bead shop? Maybe they can give me an idea on how to make it.

i was finally able to afford one (i saved for like 6 months) and i wasn't impressed because the clasp was broke when it arrived. She replaced it and such, but i was kind of let down. Yours is very pretty though!

The blanket and pendant are beautiful... They both make me smile. As for the sock, I too am knitting with Duet Sock Yarn in two colorways (Chocolate Fantasy and Hip Chic) and have more on the way.... including the elusive Army Girl colorway that you have. I was finally able to order some today! :)

That blankie is really wonderful, I also love to use caron simply soft yarn. The snake I'm currently knitting, and the purple and lavender striped hat with the flower on top both are knit with it. It's really one of the best acrylics out there. I love the birds nest necklace you made, I'm way impressed!

The boys love the binkie.... they couldn't wait to jump on it. And I love the nest eggs pendant, it looks better in person. :)

Wow!! I LOVE the bird nest pendant!! It is gorgeous. I dont wear much jewelry but I would definitely wear that. Thanks so much for your comments and visiting my blog. The blue sewing machine (what I have) is just fine for a beginner to play around with. I suspect I may upgrade to a "real" machine after I learned more. I think the green one has a button hole feature and the blue one doesn't. Anyways, its a great buy, and so cute!
