I knew Susan's new book, Spud & Chloë at the Farm, was coming out soon and was looking forward to seeing it. So, I was extremely thrilled when Artisan Books asked if I would like to be part of the blog tour for the book. Lucky me!
Well, let me tell you that Melody has fallen in love with the book the day it arrived on our doorstep. She has been trying to convince me every day to let her have the "gook". That's what she calls a book. She goes to my book shelf in the mornings and pulls it out and say, " Mama, me, gook, me?" I shouldn't be surprised that the book would appeal to children. The book contains pictures of 13 adorable knitting projects and in the back, a 9 page illustrated story of Spud & Chloë.
I figured that she would be the perfect person to lead you through some of the inside peeks of the book. So here goes Melody's first book gook review. Please cut her some slack. Since she is only 3 yrs old, her comments are brief.
"Oh sheep! I lub sheeps!"
I told her that the doll was named Chloë. She said,"Chloë red dress. No blue." Clearly, she is asking me to make Chloë for her, but in a red dress.
"Pig! Pink! Oink, oink, oink."
"Wow, more sheep!"
"Chick-in! Mama and baby chicks."
"Baby mouse."
"Oh cute kitty!"
"Wolf?" I told her it was a dog and she said,"Oh doggy, woof woof!"
"Awww...so cute!"
"Story! I lub stories."
Since Melody will not relinquish her copy of the book, Artisan Books has generously offered to give one of you lucky readers a copy of the book. Please leave a comment telling me which is your favorite character/animal from the book. The last day to comment is April 21, 2011. The winner will be picked by a random number generator. Good luck!

Spud & little lamb are my favorites but they are all adorable.
I LOVE this book! Melody is too cute. My favorite is Spud, because I lub sheep!
(I already own this wonderful book, just wanted to leave you a comment!)
What a charming post! I think my little ones would love the sheep best, so I am going to say sheep.
Great review Melody! Evie is the same with my knitting/crafting books. She loves to sit and 'read' through them! =)
Definitely Spud.... He's the cutest sheep. I'd like to knit several in different colors. My email is dawn0405@gmail.com.
Spud is my favorite character. I cannot wait to get my hands on this book someday and knit my son a farm.
Spud is my favorite. My new puppy is also named Spud. Great name! I would love to win this book! Thanks so much for a chance.
I'm not sure which is my favorite! I love all the animals. Although the chicken with the little chicks is too cute and my 2 year old thinks they look like finger puppets (we have a stuffed duck and ducklings that are puppets so this is probably why). Too fun!
I agree with Melody and love those sheep!
I LOVE THE BLACK SHEEP! TOO CUTE!
well, my absolute favourite is the sweet pet holding the book! :)
but if we HAVE to choose from within the book, then i have to go with the sheep! Cos I "lub sheeps" too! :)
What a great gook review! I'd have to say the sheep are my favorite, but it would be hard to resist making all the projects from this book.
Melody is adorable and has excellent taste in gooks. So hard to choose but my favorite would be the sheep.
They are all so cute, but I love the sheep, then the piggy and cat get my vote too :)
I am partial to the black sheep, but I absolutely adore everything that Susan has done so far. She has really helped me fall in love with knitting. Thanks for the Gook review Melody!

She's just too cute. But of the ones *in* the book, I think the chicks are a great idea, but I'd probably make the kitten first.

So adorable..in so many ways! And love the creativity of including the story with the hand-knit characters. So difficult to choose a favorite as I covet them all...but if pressed the sheep would be at the top of my list!
