Sage Blouse

This sweater was started in the Summer of 2009 and I finally picked it up again in January 2010 to finish it. I started this sweater because I was procrastinating about another project. So for me, I wouldn't call it a long UFO. I am currently working on another UFO from the Summer of 2008. Stay tuned for that one.

It's a free pattern available on Ravelry and knit from the top down. The only tricky part for me was the Moorish Lattice Pattern. I had a hard time incorporating that part along with the Raglan Increases because there isn't any clear instructions on doing that. I felt like I was doing it wrong, but I kept going. After messaging the designer, she told me I was on the right track. The yarn is lovely blend of Wool and Silk. It's considered a Worsted weight, but to me it's more like a Light Worsted. I was able to get gauge with it using size US 4's.

I am really happy with it considering this is the first pullover sweater I have ever made for myself. I steam blocked it and the drape is very nice. I just wish it was more loose and blousey like the designer wearing the pattern. In hind sight, I could have knit this one size up, but didn't want something swimming on me. I have a feeling the sweater might grow a little when I wash it, so maybe then it will be a little looser on the body. It's optional to do the back plain (stockinette) or with the same Moorish Lattice Pattern. I opted to make the back decorative, too. My hairstyle is usually shoulder length or shorter, so the back would be visible. It really wasn't that much more work at all.

I am really digging this knitting for myself business and plan to knit many more sweaters for myself this year. After all, who would be more appreciate of my work than myself?

Pattern: Sage Blouse (free PDF pattern via Ravelry)
Needles: US 4 / 3.5 mm
Yarn: 6 balls (744 yards) of Crystal Palace Yarns "Crème", in color : Light Green
Size: The smallest size.

What a beautiful job you've done, as always! I am just completely in awe of your skill. (Maybe because I can't knit!)

Very pretty, simple, but just enough to keep it interesting. I wanna make one now :).

Plus, good for you for completing UFOs and especially those for yourself.

It looks really pretty! I'll bet it will loosen up a bit when you wash it.

Yay for finishing a project long in the making! Love the lattice plackets - it makes it look somehow Renaissance, - in a really good way.

You're cracking me up. The sweater looks great, but that's no surprise. I'm glad that you get to experience of wearing something you made with your own tiny hands!

You're really on a finishing streak, go girl! Pretty, elegant sweater blouse, I've queue'd it on ravelry. I just discovered queueing in ravelry. I know, I'm s-l-o-w haha!

Oooh yes, love this one too. Nice detailing at the top, and pretty shaped sleeves. How fun to be finishing your UFOs.
