I am back! We lost our cable internet connection for a week. And boy did I go through some withdrawal symptoms! Time Warner Cable said they would send someone to check it out by the end of the week. A whole week seemed like an eternity for DH and I since we are internet junkies. The problem turned out to be a bad modem and they gave us a new one and we are back online. Woohoo!!
During my internet free week, I kept busy with some more sewing projects. This is another one of those Cuddly Quilt Kits from Jo-Ann Fabrics. This one is called Children at Play and the colors are brown and green. All the fabrics is 100% cotton and cotton flannel except for that brown plush. It was a nightmare to sew with. Let's just say that I spent more time with the seam ripper than actually sewing.
This will be my last Cuddly Quilt Kit. I am tired of struggling with sewing the fabrics that are in the kits. The brown plush was the problem and it would not stop shifting even though I pinned the hell out of it. I do love the colors of this quilt and I am glad that this one is going to my little girl. Normally, she does tummy time on my bed or on a carpet next to my bed. This is the first time doing it on a hard surface on top of a blanket. For some reason, it made her lose her balance and she fell over. I noticed her arm kept buckling when she was on the hard wood floor, but she has no problem propping herself on a softer surface.Whoops! I checked for boo boos and she was fine. I am a mean mommy, but I kinda think this picture is funny.Laying on her back was much better. She stopped crying and let me take some pictures.I love the back! It's a soft cotton flannel with a swirly print.

the quilt. and your little girl. are both adorable!
I must be a mean mommy too... I love to hear a crying baby... when you know they are fine, just learning to say "Whoa, that was no fun..." it's just so dear and wonderful, so human and full of life. It's good.
I have some of those same delicious mint and chocolate fabrics in my stash. I love them, and you have renewed my desire to make something lovely with them. Too bad about the slippery fabric and time with the seam ripper (a tool I know too well,) but the results are beautiful. Melody's mommy is Marvelous... you can see it in the way she gazes at you!
Great to have you back Oiyi! Being without internet for a week for me is too long too. The quilt is gorgeous! Melody is so cute, that picture of her crying is super cute!
Absolutely darling! The colors are perfect. Melody is the sweetest little thing as always :)
The colour combinations are pretty and fabric are gorgeous! Meolody will get a hang of rolling around and getting her fair share of bumps here and there and she'll be fine! Like the old saying, No pain no gain! ^_^
I love this fabric. And she makes it even cuter! Is this a kit from JoAnn's?
I love that quilt, but I love the pics of Melody on the quilt more.
I feel for you and hubby going without internet for a WHOLE WEEK, I would have really struggled with that.
cute baby! cute blanket!
and I don't know what I would do if I lost internet connection for a week. You're a strong girls!
We were without our TV for nearly two weeks. We almost died :) It think a lack of internet would only affect me so maybe that would have been preferable.
That quilt is beautiful but nothing compared to the little beauty on top of it! Don't feel mean for taking that pic though. We all do it, it's great record everything, good and bad.
Glad you're back, I was wondering if you were on a vacation lol :) I'd be going through internet withdrawl too!
That quilt is so cute (Not to mention the baby on it!) The colors remind me of one of my favorite ice cream flavors--mint chocolate chip!!
such a cute blanket. (and baby, of course!) I had some quality time with my seam ripper this past week, too. 5 days of ripping on a quilt, for my new personal all time record. I hope I don't top it any time soon.
Oh... I giggled when I saw the pic of her crying too... probably b/c it was predictable that she bonk her head on the hard floor. Guess she'll work harder to keep her head up next time, huh? I'm sure she got kisses and snuggles after you took the pic.
Blanket is beautiful! (as is the baby!)
I've been trying to resist buying that quilt kit for a few months. Maybe I'll actually use my 40% off coupon. Pretty.
That turned out so nice! Melody looks so cute on it, I think she really likes it.
Do you have a walking foot for your machine? I'm thinking it would help with fabrics that scrunch up. I know quilters use it a lot.
Super quilt. Melody is such a model.
Oiyi! That little girl of yours is just toooooo cute! She makes me giggle with each new picture. Love the colors of the quilt, too.
That quilt is gorgeous! I really wish we had JoAnn's in New Zealand, you ladies all make me jealous with your JoAnns purchases!
Melody just gets cuter and cuter too! I love the way she is watching you.
And no internet for a week!! I don't even want to think about it!
Green+brown=lovely. I'm glad you're back online!
Ugh, a week with no internet, that is so frustrating! I love the quilt - those fabrics are adorable -- too bad they include one that makes it frustrating to sew. Melody looks so sweet on it (even crying)- I'll bet you get comments on how cute she is wherever you take her!
The fabrics are great, the green & brown go so well together.
Melody is so cute, I always get a huge smile on my face when I look at her.
I forgot how many times I was tempted to pick up one of those kits ... the major attraction was the pre-cut fabrics! Besides, with those 40% off coupon, they would be a steal!
Your daughter is such a beauty ... even when she cries! :)
What a lovely quilt! Too bad that one fabric was such a pain.
Lovely blanket! Lately, I've been having a tough time with non-cotton fabrics a lot myself. The seam ripper is my best friend but I've given non cotton quilting fabrics a rest until I can get my confidence back. My sewing mojo hasn't been so good lately.
Such a sweet little girl on her sweet little quilt! Glad you're back online! :)
Just wanted to chime in with a "yes" to using a walking foot for the stretchy fabrics. If you don't have one, hand basting it first will help a lot. Then sew with the stretchy knit fabric next to the feed dogs and the woven fabric under the presser foot. That should do the trick.
Beautiful quilt. Beautiful baby.
I love the green and brown colors! Reminds me of an Andes Mint for some reason. I always love green and brown together!
And Melody, Melody, Melody! She just never stops getting cuter and cuter. I wont think it is possible, and then she always out does herself! Seriously!
Glad you have the internet back, I know what you mean, my husband and I don't watch televison, but we have a little internet problem!
It's a beautiful quilt, and of course, Melody is adorable!! I love your photos.
Great photos! It's good to capture every kind of moment [the good, the sad, the pretty, the ugly]. But I doubt you'll get any ugly photos with Melody in it. =)
Lovely blanket too. I love browns.
Oh my, isnt Melody lucky to have such a beautiful quilt. Love the photos too! She is cute.
Is there anything better than a cute baby on a cute quilt? I think not. Beautiful quilt!
She couldn't be more cute! I made a quilt from that fabric, too. Its lovely.
Nice quilt work! She looks so sweet on it!
The fabric for the backing is gorgeous! I like the alphabet fabric on the front, too. That's good that you're going to keep the blanket for your daughter, especially since you're taking a break from those quilts. She looks pretty happy with it, minus the fall :)
Oh my! These quilts are the sweetest things! I love them! Great job!
That is a gorgeous quilt! Can't believe it's a kit. That rocks! The dark chocolate with the sage is beautiful!
That is one beautiful quilt...definitely worth all the frustration. You make beautiful things...quilts and cute babies! Before you know it, she'll be all over the place walking and getting into things. Enjoy this tummy time.
Great quilt! Good to see that Melody is doing so well also! She looks like she's an expert at the tummy time! Evie doesn't like it so much...
This is such a stunning and beautiful quilt - as is your little baby girl!!! She is a delight to behold. My youngest is 3 and growing up too fast! I just found your fabulous blog via Quilt Otaku and I am so glad I did! I am happy to be adding you to my blogroll!

Beautiful! And the quilt is great, too : ) I love the colors you've chosen.
I'm sure Melody will forgive you for giving her a blanket-over-hard-floor workout... you're just providing her with a little challenge : )
The quilt is lovely, I love greens and browns together. She is such a good model, I could never get B to sit still long enough for anything.
Such a lovely quilt! Melody is a lucky little girl. The photo of her falling made me laugh (sorry!), but more at the thought of you taking her photo in between cries :D
great job on the quilt! it's lovely and i like the colors you chose!
both too cute!!!! she is always looking adorable in all your photos!
Corrie;)
