Spring Cleaning

I almost never rip out my projects, but there comes a time when you just have to admit defeat. This scarf has been sitting in the UFO basket for way too long, 2 years to be exact. The pattern is called the Classic Scarf. The scarf is for my sister and I had her pick out the color. Two winters have past and she still has not received her pink scarf. I only have half a ball left of knitting to be done, but since I left the needles on there for that long, it has left a ridge on the knitting when I resumed knitting it. I am not sure that it will block out and I am itching to start something new with it, so I frogged it.Does anyone know how to straighten out the yarn? Any advice or tips would be appreciated. The yarn is 100% Baby Alpaca. I already have a new pattern picked out, so I want to start knitting ASAP. I want to give it to her this winter.

The 3 Stooges: Bobbi, Melody and Ellie. I love Melody's little feet. She is always twitching her toes when she is drinking her bottle.Melody is hamming it up with Bobbi. She smiles a lot now and there is no greater joy for me than when I see her smile.

I made Shrimp Scampi with Linguine tonight and it was excellent. DH and I both went for seconds. This was my first time cooking with wine and I was surprised that I liked it since I don't like to drink wine. The recipe can be found HERE from the Food Network.
I was cleaning out the fruit draw in the refrigerator and found some apples past it's prime. I decided to make an Apple Cake with them. It wasn't rotten, just not as fresh and crunchy as I usually like it. My sister is worse than me. She won't eat an apple if she can make a dent with it by pressing her finger on the apple. She likes them super crunchy. We both don't like mealy or super ripe fruit.

I used a Pear and Blueberry Cake recipe, but substituted with all apples. For the half a cup of blueberries in the batter, I diced up some apples to equal a half a cup. The cake turned out light and moist and it was not overly sweet. DH loved it and ate 2 pieces in one sitting which is a lot for him.

It is easy to straighten out yarn. All you have to is put the yarn into a skein and tie it off at intervals. Then let is soak in water for however long you want then squeeze out the excess water and hang it with weights on the bottom an let it dry. It will be good as new. btw adorable baby!

Yup, what Tawana said. It works like a charm.

I can't believe how big Melody is getting! She is sooooo cute! Isn't it the best when they start to smile. I just makes my heart melt.

wow you are definitely made to be a mummy! cute baby, knitting and cooking gourmet meals and baking! I don't think hubby enjoyed any of my baking till keira was 3 months old and the most glamorous meal I made was risotto!

melody is looking so much bigger and cuter!

my nana who used to frog old jumpers to reuse the wool next season when my dad was growing up would wind it around a wire coathanger and stick in the bathroom while the shower was going and let the steam get at it! not sure how to wind it on but I remember her telling me!

good luck
Corrie:)

We used to rip things out and re-use the yarn after tying it into skeins and 'washing' it in cold water and then hanging it up until it dried. The 'curls' would sort of relax. I can't remember if it was just like new, but it was pretty good and didn't look as if it had been re-used.

Speaking of pretty! That little Melody is adorable! I love her little smiles too! And her cute little toes! She brought a smile to my face! The food looked great too!

Well I see you've already been told how to fix the yarn......I will say you are much more productive than I remember being when I had a little baby!
That picture of Melody leaning on the bear is beyond cute.
The food all looks yum - gonna have to try that cake!

Oh my your little one is growing so fast!! And too adorable.. That much sweetness should be illegal!

I second Tawana's suggestion for straightening out the yarn, and I'll add: Not too much weight or it'll take out the spring in the yarn, at least til it's blocked again.

mmm Shrimp Scampi.. *sigh* I'm the only one here who'll EAT shrimp.

And Apple cake? hmm I have some apples here. What kind did you use? I have granny smiths.. Will those work? Ugh, and I just finished up a yellow cake with choco icing last night!! lalala.. I can wait! X-D

Knitting Daily has a great post about straitening yarn - here's the URL: http://www.knittingdaily.com/posts/babies_children/273-1.html

I think you have your yarn straightening answer. Melody looks as adorable as ever. The apple cake looks delish!

What a coincidence! I am doing a project from a previous one too! But I was lazy and just knit directly from the old project. Maybe I should do the same and frog and wash the yarn first.
Tawana's suggestion is the simplest way, I think. :)

Chi chi chi (my saying for cute cute cute). Her little toes need kisses!! Too cute!!!

I see others have already answered the question, but yeah, a good dunk and hang will get the yarn nice and straight again! And as for the cake -- yum! Subbing apples for the pears sounds great; I'm totally with you on the fact that apples MUST be super-crisp to be eaten fresh.

I did a lot of frogging once Satya arrived. Melody is looking great. First smiles are the best aren't they? I hope her cries have turned more into smiles! Your food looks yummmmmy!

Melody is adorable, loves to take pics (i bet).

Thats looks like the Maggi Instant Noodles. I rip and roll into a kitchen towel roll (toilet roll is a bit short)at the same time. I find it is easily that way as it might get very messy if i will to rip it first.

I normally use it the "re-use" yarn for knitting/crochet little items like purse, flower deco, i-cord...etc

Thanks for asking the question. I have to rip a half a tank top once I get back to NYC, and been wondering what to do with all that curly yarn.

Melody has very cute, little feet.

Melody is such a doll, so full of expression!
I love seeing photos of her!
The food looks so good, all of it. That apple cake looks fluffy and perfect! Cake is a great idea for older apples, I usually just put them in pancakes. Or just suck it up and eat them, so I would really like to try this next time I have apples around

I see you've already received a lot of advice for straitening the yarn... so I'll just say that Melody is super cute posing with her stuffed friends, and your dinner and dessert look divine! I'm not much of an alcohol drinker in general, but I do love to use it in cooking. You can add some interesting flavors to food that way.

Oh, and the pink blanket and sweater are lovely : )
