Baby Gifts for Evelyn

I went to a baby shower last weekend and this was the baby set I made for the baby-to-be, Evelyn. Bubby Bear was a big hit. Everyone was in awe that I made the bear. I got a request from one of the guests there for a Bubby Bear for herself and she is an adult. The funny thing is that she is a knitter, but she said that she has never knitted a toy before. If you missed it, click HERE to read my post from last week about Bubby Bear and to see more photos. I was able to knit everything with only 2 balls of yarn. This is the second time that I made these Simple Shoes and I love them. They are easy and quick with no seaming involved. I held the yarn doubled by grabbing the yarn from each end out of one ball of yarn. I used smaller size needles and it produced a stiffer fabric. Since it was stiffer, she can keep the shoes unrolled so the baby can wear the shoes as boots if she wants to.This is called the "5 hour Baby Sweater". There was no way I could knit this in only 5 hours, but it was a quick knit (maybe I should time myself next time). It really flys off the needles and it took only one ball of yarn. The sweater is knit in one piece, top down. I made it completely seamless by knitting the sleeves in the round with DPN's.
I liked knitting this sweater so much, I started a second sweater for another pregnant friend in a different color. Of course, I will have to find the time to make one for Melody, too. But gifts are a priority right now. I also have a 3rd friend to knit for and haven't decided on what to make yet.

Pattern: All Free Patterns: Quickie ("5-hour") Baby Sweater, Simple Shoes (PDF Link, Bubby Bear
Needles: US 10½ / 6.5 mm (Sweater), US 8 / 5.0 mm DPN's (Simple Shoes), US 5 / 3.75 mm DPN's (Bubby Bear)
Yarn: 2 balls of Lion Brand "Vanna's Choice" in color: Beige 123
Notes: One ball of yarn was used for the sweater and the other ball was used for the bear and the shoes. I knitted the shoes with the yarn held doubled.

what an adorable set! I think I knit a bubby bear in the past but wasn't nearly as happy with the results. Maybe I'll have to try again with different yarn.

You are such a fabulous knitter, and you're still chugging along even with a tiny infant to care for! You are truly amazing :) I love that sweater, I might need to think about using that pattern too thanks for the link!

I've made that sweater, but yours looks very classic in those colors. I love the idea of the booties and just printed them out. The bear really puts the whole thing over the top. Thanks for the inspiration and the links.

Wow, is this the best gift ever or what? The cuteness of the stuffed bear by itself could melt anyone's heart, so I can only imagine how it will look in a baby's hand!

This baby set is the prettiest.

Melody is a beauty. The photos of her monthiversary are amazing. I wish her a happy month and a half-iversary and hope you are healing well. (I have had three c-sections. I know it can be long and painful.)

Oh and the elephant is so cute! Now I want to knit some for my kids too!
