Shoes to Match

I hope that all of you had a nice New Year's celebration. We went to dinner at our friend's Rose and Marc's house in the city. There were cute kids, yummy food and desserts and funny stories were told. Most of the people there already have kids, so they shared their experiences with us.

I would like to say hi to Harriet and her sister. Harriet told me that she and her sister reads my blog. I was so flattered to hear that. After dinner, Harriet and her fiancé, Bryan, headed to Central Park for a New Year's Eve Midnight Run. (A four-mile run through New York City's Central Park that includes a (non-alcoholic) champagne toast, fireworks, and music to ring in the New Year.) DH and I went home and I passed out at 11pm with the boys. LOL! Definitely not as exciting!

Nope, no baby yet! So, the baby knitting will continue.
Of course, I had to make a pair of the most popular baby booties pattern on the internet. How could I not? They are adorable. I had some leftover yarn from the Easy Baby Cardigan and I made a guess that it would be enough to make the booties. Now, this is what I call a one skein project. A sweater and a pair of booties from one skein of sock yarn!
There was some color pooling so that the booties are not a perfect match. That is the nature of hand dyed yarns, so it didn't bother me.

Pattern: Saartje's Bootees (PDF Link)
Yarn: Duet Sock Yarn in Lavender Delight, leftovers from making the Easy Baby Cardigan
Needles: US 3/3.25mm
Size: the bigger one in the pattern
Mods: For the button holes straps,

My MIL made this lap-sized granny square afghan for me 5 years ago. I have been saving it because I didn't want to get it dirty knowing how much time she spent on it. But I think it's perfect for her first grand daughter to use. She has a 10 yr old grandson, so she has been waiting a long time for another grand child. When she gave it to me, she told me that she will never make another granny square afghan again. And I don't blame her at all. I shudder to think of all those little ends that she had to weave in.Look at the cute toys! I bought the Kitty on the left from Shael when I saw it on her blog. The 3 toys on the right is a Organic Cotton Baby Doll Gift Set from Sckoon. A high school friend from home sent it for the baby when she couldn't attend the baby shower.

Wow. Your baby must not know what's waiting for her or she'd get here pronto ;o)

I love those booties! The booties and sweater make such an adorable set, she will look so sweet in them yeah :) I LOVE that granny square blanket that your MIL made!! It's gorgeous, I've always had a special liking for granny square blankets that have a black background. That will be great for the baby! Such cute toys for her too. You are probably so anxious now for her arrival, in the meantime at least you can keep on knitting lol ;)

How wonderful and cute.

I've bookmarked that bootee pattern, even if I have finished having kids and have already got a pair of booties that I chickened out of giving away.

Best wishes for you and your growing family.

I hope your little one comes soon...but I wouldn't mind waiting a little longer so that I could see what else you might knit in the meantime : )

That is such a fabulous granny square blankie - I would love to make one if only I could face weaving in the million ends :) Best wishes on baby's arrival, it's going to be an exciting time!

I just found your blog and I am so happy I did! What great things you have been creating! The leaf necklace is so beautiful. I wish I knew how to make beaded jewlery like that.

Good luck in the end of your pregnancy. Both of my girls stayed in until the bitter end and of course pregnant friends of mine were all having their babies a week early.

So how do you think The Boys will accept the new member? I had to show my girls their picture - they are adorable!

Your baby is going to be the best dressed in NY! Have you decided what to take to the hospital yet? Do you have a case big enough, lol? The blanket is lovely - your MiL is a thoughtful (and patient) woman :)

Thanks for checking out my project roll-call for 2007. You have been busy yourself! Love the booties and sweater - - one skein? That's amazing. Your MIL did a great job on the afghan. Best wishes on your soon-to-be-mommy-day.

I love that baby set - it's so cute! Aren't those booties the best! Thank you for the cardigan link too - will bookmark that.

Love the blanket your MIL made. I've always wanted to make something like that but the joining and weaving scares me!

How exciting to be having a baby! Best of luck to you!!!
