A Quickie Update

My daughter, Melody, was born on January 14th, in the evening. This is a photo of her after they cleaned her up and gooped her face full of that antibacterial goop. (Not a glamour shot moment after birth.) Things in the delivery room didn't go according to plan and they had to switch gears and bring me into surgery for a C-section (Cesarean).

We are now home, both safe and healthy. I need more rest from the surgery, so this is it for now. Thank you to everyone who commented and gave me well wishes. I really apreciate it, especially since it was a scary day for DH and I. Check back next week for more photos of my cutie pie.

I'm sorry to hear about the extra recovery you are going through and hope you feel better soon. Having a baby is tough work, no matter how s/he arrives, but totally worth every second of 'everything'.

She is just darling! I look forward to hearing more when you are rested and to seeing that cutie pie in some hand made mommy clothes :)

Welcome baby! Congrats to the new parents!!

Oh my.. Melody is simply the most precious little bundle one could hope for! Beautiful name. HUGS to you and your DH! Enjoy her, Love her and never let her out of your sight.
Can you believe you're now able to HOLD your daughter in your arms?! Is it surreal? Is it as if you've never been without her? What's it like?

Sorry to hear the birth didn't go as expected. I hope you have a speedy recovery. Though, I'm pleased the two of you are home safe and healthy.

BTW - How do the furry members of the family feel about the new addition?

Thank you for sharing this little picture of Melody with us! I look forward to hearing more about your little family when you have time.

I'm so sorry to hear about the surgery. Wishing you a most speedy recovery. Take plenty of rest and make sure you do nothing too strenuous (easier said than done with a little one).

Can't wait to hear all your updates.

Congrats. She's beautiful. What a blessing she is well and you are recovering. I worked in Labor and Delivery for 8 years. I try to tell girls (without scaring them) that they need to take advantage of modern medicine and deliver under the best possible circumstances because you never know when things will become frightening in an otherwise normal pregnancy/labor. I myself had twins, one vaginally and an emergency c/section for the 2nd twin. Take it easy and be good to yourself. Its hard with a new baby but pamper yourself as much as possible. Take advice from one who knows. Only do things for you and the baby you have to do and rest, rest, rest. Good luck.

Oh baby, oh baby, oh baby! She's here and almost ready to wear all of her new knits. I hope you get waited on hand and foot as you recoup from your surgery. And don't watch any funny TV shows or movies since you might bust a gut (ask me how I know--or don't).
