Slow and Steady

I am still working on my Christmas gifts (the handmade ones). Slow and steady wins the race, right? I can't believe that Christmas is next week. Mr. Turtle is going to be gifted to a friend who loves and collects turtles (not real ones).

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that the fingers on my right hand gets numb and tingly when I am grasping a fork, using chopsticks and writing with a pen. Last week, I asked the doctor about it during my regular OB visit, the doctor said that it sounds like Carpal Tunnel. Another side effect of the pregnancy, which hopefully will go away after the birth. Knitting, thank goodness, doesn't affect me, but crocheting bothers my hand. So, I will be taking a break from crocheting. I have other crochet projects that just needs some sewing up.
Hopefully, Mr. Turtle will make it to his destination before the next storm hits. We had 2 so far, but everything cleared up by the next morning.

Pattern: Tiny Turtle pattern from here (scroll down).
Hook: US F5/3.75mm
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver Multi Color, color: Banana Berry and Caron Simply Soft Brites, color: Limelight
Size: 4 inches long by 2.5 inches tall
Mods: I used the Magic Adjustable Ring to crochet in the round. Mr. Turtle is top heavy and tends to fall on his face, so I'd recommend putting something in the shell to keep the turtle balanced.

That turtle is so cute. I'm going to have to bookmark that for a post christmas project. I'm so sorry about the carpal tunnel! Hopefully it will feel better soon!

such a cute little turtle. I bookmarked the page because my husband is a big fan of stuffed creatures and he'd love it if I made him a thing or two.

Crochet tends to irritate my wrist also so I have to stick with knitting instead. Hopefully your carpal tunnel will go away when the baby arrives.

Oh cute! Maybe that will encourage me to try my hand again at crocheting. It also bothers my wrists much more than knitting. Although with all the hat knitting lately I'm feeling a little pain in the wrists. Hope your wrists are better soon!

I like to learn how to make them but I don't know a thing about knitting..too confusing for me to follow the instructions.
Nice one you made!

that turtle is adorable!!!

I had problems with the carpal tunnel thing at the end of my last pregnancy (for a few months, I think) and it was difficult to even sleep!!! but it did get better after delivery. :) so hang in there.

cuuuuuuuuuuuute! I really need to learn how to crochet!

oh my gosh the carpal tunnel! I couldn't turn on the shower or a tap for the last month of my pregnancy and I thought it was because I was knitting a jumper for myself but oh no! the good news is it goes once you've had the baby but is just worse in the mornings!

Your turtle is so cute! Thanks for the link to the Magic Adjustable Ring. I'm making a few crocheted toys for stocking stuffers, so it will be very helpful.

such an adorable turtle! you know I had a lot of numbing in one of my arms (can't remember which one right now.....i'm telling you, if you think pregnancy brain is bad, just *wait* until it becomes mommy brain!!)...which is not good when you're a violinist! have you gottten any big bumps one your wrists that look like cysts? if you have don't worry about them, they are just lactic acid build up. I had a really bad one at the beginning of my last trimester, which caused me a lot of discomfort, but it mysteriously went away. I have a smaller one now....all that lactic acid, I guess!

Eek - carpel tunnel syndrome! My mum had to be treated for that 22 years ago - she was a typist then using the old-fashioned heavy typewriters all day, every day. She also struggled with knitting too. I hope it disappears after pregnancy as the cure is not pleasant (although I'm sure that medical science has advanced since Mum was treated in Jan 1986!).

When I saw the first photo in this post, I imagined this little guy was a miniature, like maybe and 1 1/2" long. Then I imagined him that size dangling as a pendant around my neck. You just got my wheels turning again...

love, love, love the turtle! Try placing a rubberband around the outside of your fingers and thumb and then open up your finger as far as they will go, my husband healed his with this simple exercise!
