Christmas Highlights

I got sick on Christmas Day. I didn't even realize it until the afternoon. Since, we can't travel back to Boston because I am very close to my due date, we were going to have Christmas dinner at a friend's house in NYC. I felt very tired and took a nap a few hours before we were to leave, but when DH tried to wake me up, my throat was hurting and I didn't want to wake up. So, I slept on and off all day and night. What a waste of Christmas Day!

A few days later and I feel even more awful. All I have the energy to do is use the computer for a little bit and sleep some more. But sleeping is not easy with the baby being very active and pre labor contractions. Sorry for whining, but being sick and 9 months pregnant is no fun.

Here are some pictures of Christmas Eve.
Strawberry Jam-filled Cookies , recipe from HERE. I can't stop eating them.
This Pet Clipper Set arrived on Christmas Eve night, after I took pictures of the boys in their Santa suits. I guess FedEx was working over time. I gave Caesar a much needed hair cut. I don't think Caesar considers the pet clipper tool a great gift. But I must say that the clipper works great!
We are going to get a Christmas Tree for the baby next year, so this year I knit my own mini-tree. This was a fun knitting project. We didn't get any snow for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, so the "snow" is actually cotton chenille.

Pattern: Fun Fur Kitschmas Tree (free pattern) by Maryse

For one of DH's Christmas gifts, I made him a Transformers Washcloth because he loves and collects Transformers. He thinks it's too nice to use. Sigh!

what a bummer that you're sick right now! It's always a bummer to miss out on the holidays.

Your knitted tree is adorable and my dh thinks the washcloth is awesome (he's also a transformers fan)

Sorry to hear that your Christmas wasn't so hot... Feel better soon!

I really love the knitted tree, by the way. Such a great idea for people that don't have the space for a real big one. Plus, you could just hook earrings into it for ornaments!

Oh no, get better soon. I know how much being sick sucks and can only imagine how uncomfortable it is when you're pregnant. Rest up and have lots of soup.

I'm so sorry to here you were feeling so rough on Christmas, hope you're getting better by now! Being 9 mos. pg and sick is the pits for sure!!

Those cookies look yummy, and that's a sweet tree you knit. My 9 yr old son is the one around here who is nuts about transformers, he'd probably like that cloth.

I am sorry, too, and hope you are feeling better. I know gargling and rinsing nose with uniodized salt and a pinch of baking soda is safe and effective - twice a day - will kill germs! See National Jewish Hospital for respitory care (#1 in Nation).

Ceasar is a do and I think he looks stunningly happy for it!

The tree is sensational! The transformer, well, that is clever!

Oi, sorry to hear you were sick xmas day. I had a stomach thing which was a real shame as the food was SO good and I could only nibble cautiously. I'll second that rinsing with salt water thing-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jala_neti
I started doing it when I was pregnant and desperate for some sinus relief a few years ago. It was tough to learn (especially with my goofy sinus issues that have since been corrected with surgery) but it's been WELL worth it. If you want more information let me know. You can buy pots pretty easily now at the drug store and some grocery stores (esp places like Whole Foods or Wild Oats) and those places usually have the right sort of salt (be sure not to use iodized).

Hi there,

I just stumbled across your blog and wanted to send you well wishes. My baby, Jackson, was due January 10/07, but made his appearance 5 days early. I too was sick at the end of my pregnancy. Last Christmas was a complete blur. My baby is turning 1 this coming Friday!

Your blog is lovely. Your knitting fabulous!

I wish you well with your coming baby girl. The time goes so quickly. Next Christmas will be a wonderful one for you!

Take good care.
