The Kindness of Strangers (from the internet)

BitterSweet makes incredible knit and crochet animals and food items. I have been a big fan of her blog. She offers a lot of free patterns so don't forget to check that out. She recently made Bitty Baby and I wanted to make one, but I still don't know the gender yet. She offered to make a crochet animal as a gift for my baby.

I chose a pig because my baby will be born in the Year of the Pig. The baby is due the first week of January and Chinese New Year is Feb 7, 2008. Let's hope that the baby is not a month overdue! (This year is the Year of the Golden Pig. According to Chinese Folklore, this is an event that occurs once in every 600 years and will ensure that a baby born on this year will experience a prosperous and wealthy life.)

She actually made me a Golden Pig! The yarn she used has a gold metallic thread running through it, so the pig shimmers. DH and I were so touched. It is adorable! Thank you, BitterSweet!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
This public Thank You is long overdue. Remember when I made Sponge Candy a while ago? Well, Fliss emailed me and offered to send me Cadbury Crunchies from England for me to try. I received them in June along with some tea. They taste exactly like the candy I made, except it had milk chocolate covering it.

The Tetley Tea from England is far superior to the Tetley Tea they sell here in the US. It had such a deep tea taste, not like the weak stuff we have here. DH was in heaven when he made himself a cup of tea using those tea bags. We are major tea fans. In fact, I don't like coffee and DH only drinks coffee at work occasionally.
Thank you, Fliss!

Oh, what a perfect and cute little gift!

I've had the crunchie bar before, and I thought about it when you were making your candy. It's really good!

Such a cute little piggy! My daughter was born in mid-January before the Chinese New Year so while almost everyone in her class is a 'rooster', she's a 'monkey' :)

That pig is adorable, what a sweet little gift. I really think it's high time I learned (or is it re-learned) to crochet).

Funny, crunchies, and tea-bags are the 2 most essential items that we HAVE to bring back with us when we visit home. I can't tolerate lipton :)

That pig is awesome! Congrats on the baby! I tried to comment on a previous post, but blogger didn't allow it for some reason. Both the quilt and the knitted blanket look awesome! I better get my butt in gear and do some baby crafting for myself too! =)

Wow, how sweet is that! And your ripple just turned out gorgeous, you'll be soooo happy with the simply soft for a baby blanket :)

Btw, I'm short too LOL: about 5'2". But I'm still gonna make that sweater anyway, because I love it! You don't need to worry about knitting any sweaters and things for yourself right now anyway LOL, pretty soon it'll be all baby knitting all the time ;)
